Village Litter Pick 2023
Saturday 1 April, (this is not an April fool!) meet at the village sign 10:30am
Equipment will be provided, please wear suitable ‘old’ clothes with stout shoes
or boots. Children welcome but must be under the care of an accompanying adult.
Afterwards gather at the Village Hall for refurbishments and to swap stories of
what oddities were found in this years litter. I'm hoping there might be cake!

2022 ...
The previous two years were significantly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and
relied on ad hoc picking from dedicated Ovington residents, but 2022 saw the
resumption of our 'usual' village effort.
I great turnout on a bright sunny day:
And after a few hours a large haul of mixed litter ready for disposal:
2020 ...
We nearly abandoned the litter pick altogether, however with some
careful consideration it was possible to hold a very
restricted event while abiding with the national restricted in place because of
COVID-19.
A pile of litter was gathered including the 'usual' bag of Tesco security tags
from spirit bottles! The litter was picked up by the Breckland bin collection
team (much thanks).
Some of the village stalwarts continue to litter pick while out taking their
daily exercise.
If you would like to borrow litter-pick equipment I have a couple of sets which
can be loaned to anyone interested.

2019 ...
A good turnout:
Briefing finished, safety kit on and ready to go, in fact some have already
gone round the corner beyond the view of the camera:
After a couple of hours and a few times round with the Land Rover a heap had
been collected, ranging from smashed car parts, fast food containers, cans and
bottles to a 'magazine' collection leaving the finder open to some teasing
later:
Back at the village hall for a fab lunch of sandwiches, soup, sausage rolls,
biscuits and cake, lots of cake:
Usually behind the camera, Tim with coffee and soup:
The litter kit needed to be washed and packed ready for collection by the
Thompson group who were picking the following day. The pygmy goat on the right
is about to grab a picker to check the job has been done properly:
